Most newer homes are constructed with range hood already built in over the stove, but for an older home that might not have one or even it has, it’s doesn’t do enough to ventilate your kitchen, you can install kitchen exhaust fan yourself. Here’s the steps to install exhaust fan in your kitchen.

Things you might need to buy : 
1.Exhaust fan
2.Non-metallic 14-2 sheathed electrical wire
3.Wire connection

Tools :
1.Drill / driver
3.Wire cutter
4.Reciprocating saw
5.Utility knife
6.Stud finder

Step One :
First you need to find an empty bay to install the fan. Locate an open space in the drywall using the stud finder and mark it. Or use fish tape to find the structure by drilling a hole.

Step Two :
Draw an outline of the circular exhaust housing using the pencil. And then to remove the lathe, use reciprocating saw. Cut any insulation that may potentially block the exhaust. And then trace an outline of the dimensions of the square exhaust housing in the outside and use the utility knife to remove the siding. Trace an outline of the circular exhaust within the square dimensions and remove sheathing with the reciprocating saw.

Step Three :
Screw the outer square exhaust housing to the structure using screws from the kit and a drill. Locate an electrical source with constant power. And then connect non-metallic 14-2 sheathed electrical wire connectors.

Step Four :
Place the circular housing in the hole, pull wire through, and make connections to the electrical box. And then place your fan into the housing and plug it into the electrical box. Insert the fan cover using the cap screw.

Step Five :
In the kitchen, connect necessary wiring to the fan. Attach the front grill and when you finished, turn the power on to test your setup.

Wooden Chevron Bench DIY | Design

Building a chevron bench isn’t a hard project. You’ll be surprised at how easy peasy this chevron bench Brazilian modern style complete in just few hours.

What you’ll need :
1.Two planks 2x4 @ 97 inches long
2.Five planks 1x4 @ 96 inches long
3.One plank 1x20 @ 96 inches long
4.3 inches wood screws
5.Tape measure
6.C clamp
7.Saw blade and circular saw
8.Sanding sponge
9.Pre-stain wood conditioner
10.Polyshades stain
13.Pencil or pen
15.Cordless drill
16.Steel square
17.Cordless nailer
18.Speed square
19.1 ¼ inches finishing nails

Step one :
Build the base for your chevron bench into rectangle shape. Cut 2x4 planks into 2 48” pieces and cut 2x4 into 1 45” and cut 2x4 into 2 14”. And then pre-drill some holes so you can put your wood screws. After it done, put in the wood screws. Drill on all sides. When all screws are in then you need to the stringer center piece. You’ll need to make sure it’s center, get your measuring tape to measure the center and then tap your plank down by using the hammer. Measure one more time to accuracy. Make sure it’s even the both sides. Pre-drill the holes and add the wood screws.

Step two :
Measure and draw line directly in the center of each 2x4 and mark them by small dots in the planks to build the seat. Cut 24 pieces from 2x4. To start it, measure and find the middle and mark it, after it done line up the plank to the center piece. Double check your work, make sure the two dots are matching up and then continue add another plank flush with the first piece. Double check again using the speed square. Make sure those two dots are matching up. Use the nail gun the secure the planks. Remember to wear your googles for your safety.

And then continue with the rest of the planks. Add wood glue as you go, line the plank to continue the pattern and nail it. The dots that you made help you where the nail goes.  Follow the dots down the center of the planks until it finish. Once it done adding the planks, add 2 addition at the top to complete it.

Step three :
To cut off all the extra woods, use the C clamp to fasten it down. Wear your googles and gloves for your safety. Saw on all sides of the edges using the saw blade, leave 1 inch lip. Fill in the left over spaces with the extra wood scraps. Fill in the holes like it’s puzzle.

Step four :
To add the legs, cut 1x2 into 2 8” long pieces, line the plank up and pre-drill to make hole finally drill in the wood screws. Do the same for the other side too.

Step five :
Apply  the pre-condition wood before you stain the bench, it help you soak up the stain so you get dark Brazilian modern look. After all applied, let it dry.

Step six :
Stain your bench, use the brush for oil-based stain. Try to slowly and enjoy staining your bench so you’ll get nice long, thin coats. Let it dry and apply another coat and then let it dry again and when everything dries you can style your Brazilian chevron bench in your style.

You can repurposed a pallet into a coffee table, build it by your own with just get these supplies bellow in warehouse nearby. It’s super simple because half of the work has already been done for you. But in order to get a professional result, select the pallets with great care or select the ones that are in good condition are recommended.

Supplies you need :
1.Four Caster Wheels & screws
2.Sanding Brush
3.Wood Glue
4.White or Black Wood Stain ( medium shade )
5.Two pallets

 Step 1 :
Use wood finish stain to paint your pallets before you whitewash it little bit to sand it down and also to get rustic charm look. Remember to put on your gloves and cloth in case there’s any splinters. Stain all sides, tops, sides, inside, except bottom so it will really look naturally each. Stain both pallets and let it dry.

Step 2 :
When everything is dry, apply the whitewash evenly from left to right. Allows plenty of time for them to dry before you continuing to the next step.

Step 3 :
Glue the pallet together with wood glue evenly. Flip one pallet over and glue both bottoms together evenly. Cover all bases and stack them up on top of each other. You don’t have to worries if your pallets are not exactly the same. Clamp together with C clamps to hold them in place while the glue dries.

Step 4 :
After it’s dries, screws the hinge in the raw edges. And then paint the hardware so it matches with rustic coffee table.

Step 5 :
Attach the caster wheels in every corner of the pallets coffee table. Check if the wheels are secured properly before continuing to the next step.

Step 6 :
The last step is sand away any rough spots. It’s more beautiful if you get repurposed look. You can also add a piece of plexiglass on top of the pallets for a smother feel. Decorate it with a vase flowers and some of your favourite magazines or books and cozy-chic pallet coffee table is done in no time !!!


How to Clean Window Tracks | Maintenance Windows

Window tracks is easy to collect dirt and it makes difficult to open the windows and even harder to shut them. But it’s easy to clean it too. With a couple of non-tonic household items you can clean your window tracks in no time.

The materials you need is a vacuum, paper towel, vinegar, baking soda, old toothbrush, rag, a cup, warm water, and dry spray lubricant.

The first thing you need to do is to vacuum out the dirt or debris that is on the window tracks. It’s to avoid the tracks from scratches. And then take amount of baking soda, break up any little crumbs and dash it an even layer in the window tracks. Use the cup to pour the vinegar on it.

You can do that as many time as you need to. It’s just going to bubble up and kicking out the dirt. And then use the old toothbrush to scrub it on the surface. Rinse with the water and dry thoroughly with the paper towel and buff with clean towel.

Finally use the dry spray lubricant to lubricate the window tracks. Simply shake the can and spray on all over the tracks. And you have clean window tracks that lubricated and protected.

Tips :
-Be sure to clean the tracks on both sides of the window.
-Clean your window tracks every few months with toothbrush. The brush will loosen stubborn dirt  deposits, and then you can use to vacuum.
-Try to avoid oily lubricants because they attract dirt and dust.

The debris caused the water flows not as hard as it should be, because the debris blocking it. If it so, clean that up, replace the spring and gasket with the new one. Put it them back in there, stick the hose and then screw by the hand and tighten it up with the pliers. On the water to test if it leaks. If it all set but the water pressure is low, you’ll need to check the aerator maybe there’s debris in there.

Get your pliers, the aerator is right inside underneath your spray hose head. Use the pliers to unscrew the spray hose and take out the aerator, rinse out all the sand and debris. Vinegar does a good job too for cleaning lime off plumbing screens and spray parts. CLR helps you up too. After it cleans, put everything back on. Make sure the gasket and everything, because you don’t want to lose them. Tighten back up with the pliers, and on the water. You’ll see water coming through and you have a good flow in the faucet.

How to :
Pour the soil dirt inside the container little by little. You are going to create like a natural arrangement. After that grabs some of the seashells and place them in the soil inside the container. Arrange the seashell so it looks nice.

And then place the small seashells in the small container, so you have a combination of the two vases. Use some of the green leaves to wrap the pot of the plant and glue with the glue gun. Don’t forget to put your glue stick before you using the glue gun. After the pot all covered with the green leaves, put it in the hole of the container. Adjust the pot until sturdy and look nice. And then use the remaining leaves, fold into half circle and place them in the little vase. After all done, you can put the exotic arrangement wherever place you want in your house.

How to Fix a Leaky Tap

What you need is 

1. a monkey wrench
2. a screwdriver
3. a replacement gasket

What you need to do is, before getting started you need to turn of the water at the mains. And then use your screwdriver and gently remove the top protective covering to unscrew the faucet.

After you took out the faucets, remove the mechanism with the wrench so you will find the gasket inside. Replace the gasket with new one, and then use the wrench to tighten it. Put everything back in place. Remember the position they were in before and make sure you reattach them in that same position. Turn back on the water and test to see if the faucet works without leaking. If it leaks, check the connection points you just made are tight enough.

HOW To Clean Antique Furniture

If you want to clean up antique furniture and you don’t want to get damage, clean it gently. Dust it and polish regularly to maintain the furniture. Choose a mild cleaner that safe your antique. You can use a mild dish soap that diluted in a water because soap that you use  for dishwasher is more acidic.

Alternatively you can use little stronger cleaner for tough grime, like murphy’s oil. And remember to use small amount. Or other option is furniture paste wax. Use soft cloth and your chosen cleaner and then rub the surface gently. Move the rag/ cloth in the direction of the grain of the wood.

Some areas may have some stubborn stains or grime. To remove this you can try using steel wool. Make sure to rub gently to avoid damage. Keep rubbing until the unwanted dirt and debris is gone.

For the un-reached areas like corners or curves you can use unwanted toothbrush. Dip the toothbrush in your cleaning  solution scrub down gently until the dirt and grime is gone. And finally use dry rag to wipe. Before you continuing with the cleaning process, allow the furniture to air dry a bit. To get the nice look and glow, add layer of polish after the furniture is dry. Simply get a clean dry cloth and buff the furniture until it glows.

Some people are using beeswax as it has many anti-aging properties that can help preserve the natural look.

To maintain your antique furniture dust your furniture regularly. Keep out your antique furniture from direct sunlight because UV light will damage the furniture easily. So do not leave your antique outside.
